Leanne Maiden

Women’s Health Osteopath & Scar Tissue Specialist

Principal osteopath and clinic director, Leanne Maiden, took over the reins of Bearsden Osteopaths in May of 2020. During this time she has expanded the team and the services that we offer as well as re-locating the clinic to a much larger premises. We have been in our current home above Bar 55 Bearsden Athletic Club (rather than Bar 55) at Bearsden Cross since the 1st of January 2021. Leanne is a passionate and driven practice owner who works tirelessly to create a therapeutic healing space where our patients can receive the best treatments from our team of professional form around the world.

Leanne trained as a gymnast from the age of three and her love for movement, health and wellbeing led to her completing a BSc degree in Human Kinetics and Ergonomics from Rhodes University. Whilst traveling in the UK she discovered osteopathy and embarked on a 5 year Master’s programme, graduating in 2014 from the world renowned University College of Osteopathy (formerly the British School of Osteopathy).

Leanne has worked in a variety of health care settings. During her student years she volunteered at the Chapman Clinic and Royal Free Hospital, both specialist clinics in providing osteopathic care for HIV positive patients. In addition, she also spent time in specialist pregnancy and children’s clinics. After moving to Scotland she worked with the former squad physiotherapist for Scotland and the British and Irish Lions. But her true passion lies in women’s health.

Over the years Leanne has focused her energy on providing osteopathic care to help women thrive in the various stages of life. Whether it be in sports, pregnancy, postpartum care, perimenopause, menopause, and beyond. Leanne loves seeing her patients achieving their goals, whether it be enjoying a pain free pregnancy, achieving a personal best in the park run (keep a look out for me at Victoria Park – I’ll be towards the back), or any other physical endeavour. Leanne holds your goals as highly as her own.

Leanne’s drive for helping women achieve their goals comes from from her own challenges through pregnancy and child birth. Having had her two sons by C-Section she is only too aware of the implication that surgery, recovery and scars can have on your physical and emotional wellbeing. Leanne works largely as a structural osteopath but finds she gets great results using more subtle techniques as well. Leanne believes is working collaboratively with other health care clinicians and experts in the fitness industry to achieve the best outcome. Leanne is a qualified pilates instructor and whilst she is not currently working as a pilates teacher it has provided a good foundation for observing human movement.
